THE SIX ELEMENTS OF DEEP HEALTH
THE SIX ELEMENTS OF DEEP HEALTH
Deep health is about so much more than just the physical body. True health encompasses every aspect of our being, including our relationships, a sense of purpose, mental and emotional well-being, and our environment. In this blog post, we'll explore the six elements of deep health and how to cultivate each to achieve holistic well-being.
Relational Health. Humans are social creatures, and our relationships profoundly impact our health and happiness. Relational health involves cultivating positive and meaningful connections with others, whether with family, friends, or community members. This can include setting healthy boundaries, improving communication skills, and practising empathy and compassion.
Existential Health. Existential health refers to our sense of purpose, meaning, and direction. Having a sense of purpose can give us a reason to get up each morning and help us cope with challenges and setbacks. Cultivating existential health involves reflecting on our values and priorities, setting goals that align with them, and finding ways to contribute to something larger than ourselves.
Physical health. It is the most well-known aspect of health, and it involves taking care of our bodies through nutrition, exercise, and rest. This can include adopting healthy habits such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and prioritising sleep. Physical health can also reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Mental Health. Mental health is often overlooked, but physical health is as essential. Cultivating mental health involves taking care of our minds and emotional well-being. This can include seeking therapy, practising mindfulness, and learning healthy coping mechanisms for stress and anxiety.
Emotional health. Emotional health involves recognising and managing our emotions healthily. This can apply practising self-awareness, acknowledging and expressing our feelings, and seeking support when needed. Embracing healthy emotional management can help us lead more fulfilling lives and improve our relationships with others.
Environmental Health. Environmental health involves our physical surroundings, such as our homes, workplaces, and communities. Cultivating environmental health involves creating safe and healthy living spaces, minimising exposure to toxins, and promoting sustainable practices. This can include adopting eco-friendly habits such as recycling, reducing waste, and using non-toxic cleaning products.
Deep health encompasses all aspects of our being, from our relationships to physical, mental, emotional, existential, and environmental health. By focusing on each of these elements and making positive changes, we can achieve a state of holistic well-being that supports us in living our best lives. So, let's prioritise deep health and work towards cultivating each of these essential components.
