Six Benefits Of Eating Eggs
Eggs pack so much goodness into them they could be considered one of the original "superfoods" although I am not a fan of that term.
Here are some of the benefits of eating eggs every day:
EGGS ARE NUTRIENT RICH. One egg contains. Vitamin B12, Vitamin B2, Vitamin A, Vitamin B5, Selenium. As well as small amounts of calcium, zinc manganese, vitamin E, folate, potassium and iron.
EGGS ARE HIGH IN QUALITY PROTEIN. Proteins are the main building blocks of the body. One large contains 6.3 grams of protein and is considered a high-quality protein*. Eggs are a great source of protein for those that choose not to eat meat or fish.
EGGS CONTAIN CHOLINE. Choline is used by the body to help with liver and nerve function. Our bodies can produce choline but not in the amounts needed daily, which means we need to get the rest from our diet.
EGGS CONTAIN VITAMIN D. Eggs are one of the few foods that contain Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps with calcium absorption, which makes it essential for healthy teeth and bones. Two gets can give you up to 80% of your daily Vitamin D intake each day.
EGGS ARE A GREAT SOURCE OF OMEGA-3. Omega-3 is an essential polyunsaturated fat that plays a significant role in how our cell membranes work and the function of our brains.
EGGS ARE CHEAP. Not all eggs are created equal. Ideally, you would eat pasture-raised eggs that have been shown to have a higher amount of nutrients, but if that's not an option, supermarket eggs will do just fine.
Lastly, don't be a dork and only eat the egg whites. You miss out on most of the vitamins and minerals that the yolk contains.
How do you like your eggs?
*The quality of a protein source is determined by its relative amounts of the none essential amino acids that cannot be produced by the body. A protein source that contains all of them in the right ratios is known as a high-quality source of protein.
